The Newberry Collection of Islamic Embroideries

A stylized calligraphic band with double spiral scrolls. The background is filled with green couching, the scrolls are defined by undyed flax thread.

The couching is single thread. There are isolated chain stitches. At right angles to the band are two run-and-fell seams on two sides of the fragment; the tailored seams were possibly part of the top of a tunic.
