Indian Block-Printed Textiles in Egypt: The Newberry Collection in the Ashmolean Museum, Oxford

Two parallel bands, one brown, the other red, and further subdivided into narrow bands. The brown band has elaborate leaves as well as a stylized continuous vine, the red band has quatrefoils, stylized leaves, and small diamond shapes. The designs are all very small, but intricate and elaborate. They are defined by white lines against a red or brown ground.

The block used for printing the red band had a measurement of 11 cm. x 6 cm. The reverse shows less dye saturation than the surface.
