    The Newberry Collection of Islamic Embroideries

    Four narrow bands are set at right angles to each other, forming a grid; each band is filled with pairs of arrows that point towards each other, but are separated by a vertical line. The blue embroidery defines the design.

    The fabric has a rolled and whipped hem along all four sides, as well as a run-and-fell seam down the centre. It is likely to have been used as a domestic ornament, such as a dish cover.
