    The Barlow Collection

Bowls of this type have come to light in a hoard discovered in Suining county, Sichuan province, buried probably around the time the Mongols invaded the area, in 1234, and before the town fell, in 1242.

The conical bowl has straight sides, a straight, narrow foot with pointed base and a very small flat centre inside. The glossy, yellowish-green glaze leaves the footring in the reddish-brown biscuit.
