The 10th Shamarpa Lama east Tibet, mid-18th century

  • Description

    The 10th Shamarpa (1742-1792) was the second in the Karmakagyu Lama hierarchy. Surrounded by protective deities, he holds a ritual vajra (thunderbolt symbol) and bell. Chinese influence in seen in the landscape in both these Karma Gadri style thangkas.
