The A. H. Church Collection of Japanese Sword-Guards (Tsuba)
Bold mokkō; pierced near the kozuka-hole with an heraldic plum-blossom; both faces and the edge covered with inlay of brass formerly gilt (karakusa scrolls set with plum-blossoms and four Kaga-umebachi, the latter a badge of five disks surrounding a ten-rayed smaller disk).
The Kaga-umebachi was borne by the Mayeda, Lords of Kaga province, as also by several Court nobles.
