Indian Block-Printed Textiles in Egypt: The Newberry Collection in the Ashmolean Museum, Oxford
A continuous design of black tendrils with white dots, curling back onto themselves, with red flower-heads attached. The background is blue, and small, white tendrils are attached to the larger black ones. In addition there are two bands of white tendrils and red leaves against a background that has been dyed blue over red and therefore appears to be purple. The bands are at right angles to each other, one of them following the selvedge.
Selvedge, and the remains of some stitching. The reverse shows less dye saturation for red and black, but considerably more for blue.
