    The Newberry Collection of Islamic Embroideries

    A band contains a square with a spiral inside, framed by triangles. These are mostly filled with very finely stitched darning, worked over one thread, and partly outlined in white satin stitch. Pulled work with wrapping stitches worked in diagonal rows provides the outlines, and there is some additional pulled work with wrapping stitch in horizontal rows.

    A selvedge. The band is 3 cm wide. Parallel to it are prick marks remaining from further embroidery that has disintegrated.
