    The Newberry Collection of Islamic Embroideries

    The largest of three fragments that were part of a band with the inscription 'glory and prosperity'. The ground of the band is blue, the script is yellow with a red outline.

    The yellow filling of the letters shows evidence of couching. It may be the silk core remaining of a metal thread. The ground fabric is a fine plaid weave, apparently woven with flax and silk, the silk with two threads per pick.
