    The Barlow Collection

The piece is exquisitely made, of opaque greenish-beige stone, carved like a slightly curved band with downward curling ends and a square socket for attachment underneath. The surface is decorated with a highly stylized animal motif, consisting of an abstract pattern of interconnected curled motifs, arranged at right angles, with a head indicated at one end by two eyes under curved eyebrows. The decoration is raised in shallow relief with faintly incised detail. The underside is plain.
