    Indian Block-Printed Textiles in Egypt: The Newberry Collection in the Ashmolean Museum, Oxford

    Bands made up from dots; one with a wavy line representing a vine, with additional leaves attached, another with the dots forming small clusters, possibly representing plants. The designs are similar to Cat. no. 527 [EA1990.534]. Some of the bands are placed diagonally or at right angles to each other. The design is white on a red ground, and the general background is brown.

    The reverse shows slightly more dye saturation than the surface. Separate blocks were used for the individual bands, although they were the same size, measuring 12 cm. x 6.5 cm.
