    The Barlow Collection

The animal is impressively sculpted, seated on a thick square plinth, the front legs placed close together, the head proudly raised and looking to the right, the features dramatically rendered with bulging eyes and closed mouth with protruding fangs, the head framed by a thick curly mane and curly hair at the chin, the body with bristly fur down the legs. The bushy tail, with hair combed to two sides, is placed on the right hind paw, the other paws show strong claws. The buff-grey marble has overall encrustations from burial, the eyes still show some black pigment.
