    The Barlow Collection

This incense burner was probably made in imitation of contemporary Dehua ware, also from Fujian province, but far superior in material.

The piece has a low rounded body, a nearly straight foot, constricted neck and everted rim with two angular handles on top. The piece is light in weight, made of off-white stoneware and covered with a cream-coloured glaze with an overall fine-meshed crackle. The inside and base are unglazed, the glaze has darker stains.
