    The Barlow Collection

Pieces related to the present bowl have been recovered from a hoard in Suining county Sichuan province, presumably buried around the time the Mongols invaded the area, in 1234, and before the town fell, in 1242.

The piece is finely potted, with straight conical sides, a tiny flat centre inside, a very narrow straight foot and a pointed base. The matt pale yellowish green glaze is evenly applied, the unglazed footring has fired a buff colour.
