    The Barlow Collection

Although in its form and design this bowl copies white Song (AD 960–1279) prototypes, no such glaze colour existed during that period.

The sides of this conical bowl are faintly rounded outside and very straight inside, with a flat centre. The inside is moulded with a central rosette emitting spiralling flames, the sides with a pair of five-clawed dragons among clouds and the rim with a key-fret border. The outside is plain. The opaque milky glaze has an intense pink tinge overall, the unglazed base and footring are covered with a purplish-red dressing.
