  • kufic

    A term denoting various styles of angular Arabic script. Emerged in the early centuries of Islam, kufic soon became the preferred hand to copy holy texts.

    Cornelian; cabochon, plain-convex (but the frontal face has four rounded triangular facets), bevelled towards the back (but the bevel disappears almost completely); rectangular. Two lines of kufic script, without dots.
