    Catalogue of Islamic Seals and Talismans

    Cornelian; bezel (but the back face is slightly rounded), bevelled towards the front; oval; the back angle is cut. The inscription is found on the central ground (A), within an oval line, and on the border (B), surrounded on its outer edge by another oval line. Script ensemble (A) and one line (B) of cursive script; engraved.

    A - Muḥammad is the Prophet of God, `Alī is the Sincere Friend of God. محمد نبي الله على ولى الله

    B - ' "Oh my Lord, leave me not solitary; though Thou art the best of inheritors" '. (Qur. XXI, 89) وانت خير الوارثين [sic] رب لا تذرني فردا

    There are some small linear motifs, spread over the ground. One line follows the shape of the gem.
