Chinese Paintings in the Ashmolean Museum, Oxford

Huang Aihong was born in Guangdong province and studied at Gao Jianfu's Chunshui Studio. Like other Lingnan School painters, he spent time in Shanghai, where he had a one-man show and where he died at the age of twenty-three. The inscription 'begun in winter 1937' suggest that the artist may not have completed this painting before his death that year.
