Indian Block-Printed Textiles in Egypt: The Newberry Collection in the Ashmolean Museum, Oxford

A wide border with stylized trees and flowers, and a large design field with pear shapes, filled with scale design, and with eight-petalled rosettes dyed purple, as well as very small five-petalled rosettes, both types with red centres. The pattern is generally grey against a white ground, but the stylized trees of the border have an internal flowering plant that is white against the grey tree shape.

Selvedge. The reverse shows little dye saturation. Ottoman, probably 18th century.
