The Newberry Collection of Islamic Embroideries

A cap is sewn together from light blue silk and undyed mashru, with a cotton lining. It is embroidered in outlines of double running stitch which create interlacing circles and stars, as well as separate knotted designs embroidered in fine blue double running stitches in the mashru compartments and the mashru border band. The circle and star designs of the blue silk compartments also have buttonhole centres, while the blue interlace embroidery on mashru ground has raised knots.

The back of the cap has two narrow triangular flaps in blue silk.
