Chinese Paintings in the Ashmolean Museum, Oxford

Wu Jingding was born in Beijing and worked there throughout his career. He began studying painting at the age of seventeen, at the painting academy attached to Peking University, and in 1920 went to Japan. Before 1949 he taught at the Jinghua Art College, and afterwards mainly at the Central Academy of Fine Art. He travelled throughout China, and specialised in landscape painting.
