  • Searching for multiple terms

    The A. H. Church Collection of Japanese Sword-Guards (Tsuba)

    Encrusted in bold iroye work, practically in the round, with various autumn flowers, at the foot of which are two quail (one at the back); the beclouded full moon is in silver inlay with the nanako carried over it (Sano technique, Group L). Signed: Mokuyensai [Japanese text] Ishiguro Masaaki [Japanese text] with kakihan [Figure] (partly cut away). (Pupil of Masatsune I; died 1838.)
