    The A. H. Church Collection of Japanese Sword-Guards (Tsuba)

    Quadrilateral, narrower above than below, and with inturned angles; edge heavily hammered up and diagonally striated; the polished ground with irregular patches of faint indentations and a number of stellate stampings supposed to depict snow-crystals, also a few pine-needles in gold and ruby cooper. Signed: Gotō Hokkiō Ichijō (as beofre) with kakihan [Japanese text].
