Tsuba with anchor amid waves

Literature notes
Each face is modelled in sharp relief with waves, above which is suspended an anchor with its four flukes just awash; the common eye of the two anchors is in openwork at the upper edge and through it passes the false roped "rim" of the guard; the flukes are encrusted with brass and gold and are represented as somewhat damaged, with adherent shells, etc.; on the front is also a flying egret in silver incrustation with gold beak and legs. -
