Tsuba with peonies and butterflies

  • Literature notes

    On the ground of Amida-yasurime (faint radial striations) are sprays of peony and three butterflies in fine bold iroye incrustation. Apparently an old guard (plain but for the striation) with decoration added in the 19th century by an Ishiguro or other worker.
