Tsuba with asanoha, or stylized hemp leaves

  • Literature notes

    Pierced with a shippō device below (oval enclosing curvilinear lozenge); remaining surface on each face covered with asanoha (diaper of six-pointed stars) inlaid in fine brass wire (which also outlines the seppadai); this is interrupted by three (on the back two) repetitions of the maru ni mitsubiki badge of the Manabe (a ring spanned by three horizontal bars) in brass strip inlay.
