Literature notes
Band of ornate chevrons, and an additional band on either side, one fragmentary, the other with two types of rosettes and a stylized plant, the leaves of which flank a central axis; the combination of patterns is identical to Cat. no. 23 [EA1990.31]. The chevrons can be read as either blue or white, and one of the rosette versions is blue against a white background; otherwise the background of the floral band is blue.
Some white stitching, as though part of a large buttonhole. Additional stitching in blue. Beyond the floral band a small piece of the textile extends, with a further example of the chevron design, but at a right angle to the main band. The width of the main band of chevrons is 9 cm., identical to Cat. no. 23 [EA1990.31]. This fragment was given a C-14 date of 1400 CE+/-40. -
