    Catalogue of Islamic Seals and Talismans

    Cornelian; bezel (but the front face is very slightly rounded and the back face is a little hollow), bevelled towards the front; oval. Four lines in cursive script (nasta`līq); engraved.

    (1) Oh my God! Bless the Prophet (Muḥammad), the Commissioner (`Alī), اللهم صل على النبي والوصي
    (2) the Virgin (Fāṭima), the Two Gentle Ones (Ḥasan and Ḥusayn), the Worshpper (`Alī), the Great One (Muḥammad), والبتول والسبطين والسجاد والباقر
    (3) the Just (Ja`far), the Silent (Mūsā), the Pleasing (`Alī), the Pious (Muḥammad), والصادق والكاظم والرضا والتقي
    (4) the Chaste (`Alī), the Soldier (Ḥasan) and the Mahdī (Muḥammad) والنقي والعسكرى والمهدى

    On the ground are some small flower heads consisting of three to five dots, and one composite flower consisting of one dot in the middle, one small circle around it and ten small dots distributed in an outer circle. Two lines follow the shape of the gem.
