The Newberry Collection of Islamic Embroideries

Quilted into bands, with rows of squares set into diamonds, and completely filled with buttonhole eyelets. Most of these are of the same pink as the background, but there are white eyelets arranged as rosettes, each with a black centre, and set into the four corners of each square. In addition there are yellow and blue buttonhole eyelets. The wide bands are separated by quilted narrow ones with a herringbone border and three rows of eyelets.

The textile has a linen backing and a carefully hemmed border on two sides.
