Black ware jar with foliated rim

Literature notes
The jar has a short body and a tall wide neck with an outward curved, foliated rim. The slightly splayed foot is neatly cut. The coarse stoneware body is of yellowish-beige colour, the smooth glaze reddish-brown, the centre inside and the underside unglazed. The inside has two accidental black iron splashes. -

Ceramic material made of clay which is fired to a temperature of c.1200-1300⁰c and is often buff or grey in colour.
