Greenware bowl

    The shallow bowl is heavily potted, with wide everted, rounded sides and a flat centre, resting on a thick, straight foot with somewhat lower footring. The piece is glazed in a light green, with a dense overall crazing. The footring and base are unglazed, revealing a pale yellowish-buff ware.

glaze, stoneware

  • glaze

    Vitreous coating applied to the surface of a ceramic to make it impermeable or for decorative effect.

  • stoneware

    Ceramic material made of clay which is fired to a temperature of c.1200-1300⁰c and is often buff or grey in colour.
