Dehua type white ware tripod incense burner with key-fret decoration

Literature notes
The piece has a depressed globular body with raised rim border and two high arched handles, and is supported on three tall legs, shaped as animal’s paws emerging from monster heads. The handles have a deeply impressed key-fret border, the shoulder is more lightly impressed with a band of key-fret. The monster heads have sketchily indicated, moulded eyes and nose and simply incised strokes to indicate hair, the legs show vertical groves to depict muscles and paws. The lightly potted pieces bears a cream-coloured glaze with fine crazing. -
