Garden scenes

Important elements of Chinese gardens include use of dense potted plants, lakes, and gardens are often the setting for leisure activities and gracious living of the Chinese gentry. Plants carrying symbolic meanings sometimes appear in Chinese paintings together, regardless of their native regions and growing seasons.
