  • Description

This drawing depicts the landscape around the village of Shouliang Gou, where Xu Bing lived from 1974–1977 as an urban youth being re-educated during the Cultural Revolution (1966–1976). He drew in the evening after the day’s agricultural work was over. He initially drew portraits of the village residents, only later switching to landscapes.
